WE0DX - Hamshack Hotline (HH)

For those of you that dont know, Hamshack Hotline(HH) is a free service to ham radio operators that offers dedicated VoIP telecomunication service. It's like having a corporate network phone systems, but just for ham radio operators.

So just for learning purposes (and been honest just because it looks cool in my desk ) I setup a Freepbx on an old HP server I had laying around and requested an trunk extension for it on HH. Took me a one or two days, but got it working at the end. For testing it I used a free Android application called ZoiPer. Then for my shack a friend of my gave me a Mitel 6920, which proved to be way more of a challenge to make it work with Freepbx as by default it is ment to be used with a Mitel PBX.

I also manage to configure an IVR menu for incoming calls. So if you call me it will give you options like english or spanish languages, ringing my extension directly (which rings on my mobile and desk extension at the same time), leave me a voice mail message, listen to Kansas City NOAA Radio (KID77) (more on this below), and connect to a conference room.

You can also reach me at my Hamshack Hotline at 550.000.0584

Here you can find the instructions how to patch NOAA weather radio with a RTL SDR device.
